Sensational K-Pop girl group (G)I-DLE are back this fall with their 5th mini album “I love”. The group released fresh, new visuals that explore a refreshingly new concept and shine a light on each member. The visuals embody the group’s message of staying ‘true to myself’, and with these, debut their title track, ‘Nxde’ (pronounced Nude). The album has already surpassed 700K stock pre-orders, marking a staggering new record for (G)I-DLE.
Nxde
‘Nxde’ is an alternative pop song that features the melody of ‘Habanera”. Habanera is a popular aria from Georges Bizet’s classic opera, ‘Carmen’. With the grand bass line consisting of shuffle rhythm and straightforward lyrics capturing the audience’s attention, it’s just like watching a musical that you can’t take your eyes off of. Each of the 6 tracks on the album unravels a different story of love through music. They express various genres from pop, rock, indie pop, and more, in (G)I-DLE’s very own style. Again, JEON SOYEON took the initiative to lead the album production process as the executive producer. The band members contributed to the songwriting of all tracks, affirming their reputation as “multi-talented artists”.
“I love”
“I love” presents images of three concepts: the ‘Act’ concept, portraying the double-sidedness of love; the ‘Born’ concept, with visuals inspired by the widely loved tragic figure Marilyn Monroe; and the ‘X-File’ concept, which shows what lies underneath artists who are loved by everybody. The music video is a story about movie stars on their journey to finding their true selves. It uses animation to deliver a message without being over serious, presenting unique aesthetics to fans. (G)I-DLE stands on their bare feet, crashing prejudices and protecting what they love, the things that love them, and themselves; even if it might be unattractive, and even if they might never be loved again. It shows that their footsteps will finally change the era and are now more anticipated than ever.
