Sold out. That’s what security greeted strangers asking in front of the concert venue. Opening his first ever headline show in the U.S., KAMIJO took the stage for his debut performance “Signature Debut Show: SANCTUS OF THE DAMNED” on July 18th, 2026.
For one night at the United Theater on Broadway, everyone was a fan with their light up roses, provided by the staff. The show follows KAMIJO’s relocation to Los Angeles after concluding his 30th anniversary concert in Japan last year.
The vocalist brought a one-of-a-kind experience, incorporating theatrics and powerful songs to the stage. And the show itself had meticulous detail and care, from the lights coursing through the stage to the opera playing in the background.
With bells ringing and echoing through the theater, the curtains rose on stage. Cheers erupted from the crowd seeing the band and KAMIJO gracing in with their gothic appearances. Utilizing the lit up rose as a motif, the vocalist put on a theatrical production of his songs “Louis ～艶血のラヴィアンローズ〜” and “Sonata.”

Despite being a solo artist, KAMIJO commanded every inch of the stage with effortless elegance and charisma that simply cannot be replicated outside of a live performance. He continued into “薔薇は美しく散る,” “Castrato,” “Conspiracy,” and “HEEL,” never allowing the momentum to fade. Between songs, he frequently paused to gauge the audience’s excitement with brief comments, feeding off the energy that continuously poured back from the sold-out crowd.
One of the evening’s most endearing moments came during his speaking segments. Without a translator by his side, KAMIJO addressed fans directly in English, doing his best to communicate with the audience throughout the night. His sincerity resonated just as much as his music, creating an intimate atmosphere despite the grandeur of the production.
He shared stories from his time in Los Angeles, joking that Best Buy had become his favorite store. He also recalled enjoying wine and steak with his band and staff the night before the concert, saying everyone was happily looking forward to dinner. However, what was supposed to be a relaxing evening quickly turned into an unexpected adventure. Teasing the audience about a “big surprise” waiting for him after dinner, he revealed that when he reached the parking lot, he discovered his car had a flat tire. Laughing as he reenacted his reaction of “Oh my God! Really? Now?” he joked that with his first U.S. headline show the next day, he thought he might end up sleeping in the parking lot. The lighthearted story earned plenty of laughter from the audience and highlighted his playful personality.
Music Meets Theater
While KAMIJO’s music has always embraced dramatic storytelling, witnessing it unfold live was an entirely different experience. Every song felt like another act in an elaborate stage production, blending theatrical performance with rock music. The carefully synchronized lighting, gothic costumes, operatic interludes, and commanding stage presence transformed the concert into something much larger than a typical live show.
His live band elevated every arrangement, delivering powerful instrumentals while KAMIJO’s unmistakable vocals echoed throughout the historic theater. The chemistry between the musicians and the visual production made every performance feel cinematic. Rather than simply presenting a collection of songs, KAMIJO crafted an immersive work of art that blurred the line between concert and theatrical performance. An Encore That Wouldn’t End
Just when it seemed the evening had reached its conclusion, KAMIJO surprised fans with one of the longest encores many in attendance had ever experienced. Every time the audience thought the final bow had arrived, he returned with another fan favorite, extending the celebration late into the night. Even with another performance scheduled the following day at a secret Los Angeles location, he showed no signs of slowing down.
The encore featured six additional songs, including “mademoiselle,” “冬東京,” “SHADOW OF OSCAR,” “この世で一番美しい薔薇よ,” and the triumphant finale “NOBLESS OBLIGE.” Each return to the stage reignited the audience’s enthusiasm, making it impossible to predict when the concert would truly end.
