The six-member boy group from Sony Music Korea officially kicked off their debut era with the release of their pre-release single “Watta Day” ahead of their debut full-length album. He showcased a youthful synth-pop sound and a message centered on ambition, self-discovery, and emotional growth. We had the opportunity to sit down with VAYONN to learn more about their debut journey, the story behind their music, and the goals they hope to achieve as they begin connecting with fans around the world.

The members of VAYONN were excited to introduce themselves to HypnoticAsia readers. They shared a few fun facts that give fans a better glimpse into their personalities. Leader SEN, one of the group’s Japanese members, proudly introduced himself and revealed that his signature charm is his cute little fang. He also shared one of his most emotional memories—meeting fans for the very first time during the group’s debut pre-recording, admitting he unexpectedly burst into tears backstage from the overwhelming emotions. JINYU greeted readers warmly and revealed that he studied French in college, though he joked that it’s been so long since he last used it that he’s forgotten most of it.
The group’s youngest member, MANO, introduced himself as VAYONN’s adorable maknae and one of its vocalists. MANO expressed how happy he was to greet fans through the interview. He shared that he absolutely loves Maltese dogs because their goofy expressions always make him smile. He also surprised fans by revealing that he’s especially quick at learning choreography. AYANG, known for his cute and friendly charm, explained that although he can be shy when meeting new people, he becomes very talkative and outgoing once he’s comfortable. TERU introduced himself with his memorable catchphrase, “Your ‘Aishiteru’ Teru”. He shared fun facts about his fellow members, revealing that AYANG has an impressive collection of plushies while MANO is easily the loudest member of the group. Finally, MASATO, who loves playing table tennis, revealed a heartfelt secret that fans may not know: above everything else, he truly cherishes the fans who continue to support and cheer VAYONN on.
Congratulations on your debut! How does it feel knowing fans around the world are finally getting to meet VAYONN?
SEN: Thank you so much for celebrating with us! Honestly, everything still feels so new that it hasn’t fully sunk in yet, but I’m enjoying every single moment and couldn’t be happier. I’m truly grateful to everyone who’s been supporting us and joining us on this journey.
AYANG: We’re incredibly happy and excited. We’ve been preparing for our debut for a long time, so finally getting the chance to meet fans all around the world is truly a dream come true for us.
How does VAYONN see themselves?
When asked to describe VAYONN in just one word, a clear theme quickly emerged. JINYU, AYANG, TERU, and SEN all chose “youth,” reflecting the group’s core identity and the message woven throughout their music. MASATO expanded on that idea with “fresh, youthful energy,” while MANO offered a more colorful perspective, comparing the group to a rainbow. He explained that each of the six members has their own distinct personality and color. Together, they shine the brightest and create something truly beautiful. For those discovering VAYONN for the first time, the members summed themselves up in three words that capture their essence: JINYU described the group as “youth, hope, and happiness,” while TERU chose “weather, youth, and freshness,” emphasizing the group’s uplifting spirit and comforting presence.
What inspired the name “VAYONN,” and what does it represent to all of you?
MANO: The name VAYONN represents our dream of six members coming together through music and spreading positive energy to the world. To us, it’s more than just a name—it’s a promise to keep moving forward together for a lifetime, and it’s something we’re incredibly proud of.
What’s one lesson each of you learned before debuting that you’ll carry throughout your career?
MANO: Without a doubt, it’s “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” During our trainee days, I learned just how important teamwork and supporting one another really are. No matter what happens in the future, I want to keep moving forward hand in hand with my members.
JINYU: To stay true to the mindset and passion I had when I first started, and to never forget the responsibility I have toward our fans.
“Watta Day” is a bright, uplifting song about embracing your authentic self. What message do you hope listeners take away from it and is there a lyric that stands out to you?
When asked about the message behind their debut single “Watta Day,” the members shared that they hope listeners find both comfort and inspiration in its uplifting lyrics. Leader SEN explained that everyone experiences moments when life feels overwhelming and they want to run away, and he hopes the song reassures listeners that those feelings are understood. To him, “Watta Day” is like a warm voice by your side saying, “It’s okay. I’m here with you. Let’s get through this together.” TERU added that he hopes people can experience the beauty of youth that exists only in the present moment through VAYONN’s music, embracing the excitement and emotions that come with growing up.
The members also revealed their favorite lyrics from the song and why they hold special meaning. MASATO chose his own line

explaining that it gives him the freedom to express himself through his facial expressions and gestures, allowing each performance to reflect how he’s feeling that day. Meanwhile, AYANG selected the simple yet memorable lyric, “Watta Day,” sharing that every time he sings it, he feels as though it’s going to be a wonderful day. He hopes that same positive energy reaches everyone who listens to the song.
Was there a memorable or funny moment while filming the music video?
MANO: It rained really hard while we were filming the music video for “MUAH!” Since we were shooting outdoors, we were all a little worried at first. But thanks to my older members staying positive and keeping our energy up even in the rain, I think we ended up capturing some really beautiful scenes that feel like they’re straight out of a coming-of-age movie. I’m really proud of how it turned out!
SEN: The most unforgettable moment was during the filming of “Watta Day,” when we actually had to go into the cold ocean. It wasn’t easy, but it became one of my favorite memories.
Which part of the choreography should fans pay the most attention to?
TERU: Please keep an eye out for my hand kiss part! I hope you’ll join in and do it with your cutest expression too!
AYANG: Don’t miss my “MUAH!” part! I change it up a little for every music show performance, so I hope you’ll have fun noticing the differences!
Your debut album explores themes like ambition, identity, and emotional growth. Which song do you think best represents VAYONN’s identity?
MANO: I’d definitely say our title track, “MUAH!” It perfectly captures VAYONN’s signature fresh energy and powerful performance style, so I think it’s the song that best represents who we are.
If you had to recommend just one song from the album to a new listener, which would it be?
AYANG: Without a doubt, I’d recommend “Watta Day.” It best represents VAYONN, and it’s a very special song because it feels like the first gift we’re giving to everyone who’s supporting us.
Outside of music, lets discuss hobbies, what you’re watching and playlists?
Beyond their music and performances, the members of VAYONN also shared a glimpse into their everyday lives. This includes the hobbies and activities that help them recharge. SEN revealed that his routine is often centered around practicing at the company or resting at home to catch up on sleep. Meanwhile, JINYU enjoys spending his free time playing games. Also, meeting up with friends to share good food and create memorable moments outside of their busy schedules.
When it comes to entertainment, the members also shared some of their recent favorites. MANO mentioned that while it was not a newly released film, he recently went to the theater to watch “The King’s Warden” and had a great time. MASATO shared his excitement for “Initial D,” which he has been watching lately, recommending it to fans because of how much fun he finds the series.
As for what has been playing on their personal playlists, SEN revealed that he has recently been listening to Keyveatz and ENHYPEN’s music. AYANG shared that he has been exploring a variety of genres, especially R&B and pop. Their diverse interests showcase the different personalities and inspirations that each member brings to VAYONN.
Since your music centers around youth and self-discovery, what advice would you give to someone who’s still trying to find their own path?
TERU: It’s okay not to rush. Take your time finding the path that’s right for you, one step at a time. If you keep moving forward, I’m sure happiness will be waiting for you in the end.
MASATO: Sometimes, having the courage to take a different path can open your eyes to something completely new. Whatever you choose, I hope you’ll just keep taking one step forward at a time.
Are there any countries you’re especially excited to visit in the future?
MASATO: Honestly, I want to go everywhere if I can! It’s always been a dream of mine to travel around the world.
SEN: I’d love to visit countries all over the world, especially Japan, France, Russia, Italy, and the U.S!
What do you hope fans feel every time they listen to VAYONN’s music?
JINYU: I hope you’ll have the courage to keep moving forward and never be afraid to face life’s challenges.
MANO: Whenever you listen to our music, I hope you can forget all your worries, even if it’s just for a little while, and feel both the excitement that fills your heart and a sense of comfort. We want to be a warm source of strength that you can always lean on.
What goals have you set for VAYONN during your rookie year?
TERU: My goal is to win first place on a music show!
SEN: More than anything, I want to make all of you happy. I hope more people get to know VAYONN, and if our music can make them smile and bring them happiness, that would make me truly happy too. I also hope all of our members stay healthy and keep smiling as we continue this journey together. As long as we’re all happy, I hope VAYONN will keep growing and reaching even greater heights.
